Carnaval de Barriles: Un Evento Lleno de Alegría, Energía y Crecimiento para NBHA-PR

The Barrel Carnival was not just our second event… it was a true celebration of what is happening within NBHA-PR: growth, unity, and passion for the sport.

From the very beginning, something felt different in the atmosphere. The arena, the colors, the music, and the energy of the crowd created a vibrant experience that made it clear this goes far beyond a competition… this is a community.

With a total of 22 unique competitors—5 youth, 6 teens, and 11 adults—the event reflected the development of new generations and the commitment of our athletes. Each participant arrived with their own story, their own goal, and the desire to give their best in the arena.

Competitors shined in three disciplines: Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, and Softball Twist. Each run was a spectacle filled with speed, precision, and excitement. Participants demonstrated discipline, passion, and the competitive spirit that defines our community.

Each discipline brought its own level of skill and strategy, offering a dynamic show for both participants and spectators. This diversity allowed every rider to shine in different areas, enriching the experience of healthy competition.

One of the most special moments was the “grab the ribbon from the goat” race, organized for

children ages 3–5 and 6–8. However, the adults got excited and requested their own category—ultimately becoming the one with the highest participation. It was a moment full of laughter, energy, and pure fun… and they truly enjoyed every second!

In addition, the event featured Carnival games for everyone to enjoy, in support of our representatives heading to the NBHA World Championships in Georgia, strengthening the sense of community and support among all attendees.

As a direct result of the event, 5 new members joined NBHA-PR, further strengthening our community and reaffirming the positive impact of our initiatives. It was a great event with incredible support from both competitors and spectators, reflecting the organization’s continued growth.

NBHA-PR continues to grow, creating opportunities and strengthening a community passionate about barrel racing in Puerto Rico.

Because at the end of the day, what we celebrated was the beauty of a community in harmony, beating to the same rhythm both in and out of the arena!
